Go global with ICE

International Community Experience (ICE) offers Guides a fantastic opportunity to get involved in community action projects in the UK and overseas.
What is the aim of ICE?

ICE gives Guides the opportunity to:
take part in an international experience
develop through taking part in community action projects
improve their self-confidence and communication skills
learn about global issues
participate in a residential experience
act on issues that concern them.

The project is particularly aimed at younger Guides who are not old enough to take part in other international opportunities such as GOLD (Guiding Overseas Linked with Development).

A trip abroad can be a life-changing experience for girls and leave them with memories that they will always treasure. It can be hugely rewarding for Leaders too.

But the thought of planning the trip, arranging parents’ meetings and fundraising to cover costs can be a bit scary if you’ve never done it before. But you don’t need to do it alone! More experienced Leaders are always ready to help and there’s a training package that will give you the confidence to run your trip successfully.

What is GOLD?

Guiding Overseas Linked with Development (GOLD) allows Girlguiding UK members aged between 17 and 30 to take part in community development projects overseas.

GOLD is:
sustainable and long-term: our projects’ aims are worked towards over a period of five years.
inclusive and relevant: we work in partnership with overseas Guiding Associations to make sure the projects are targeted to local needs.
